The Best Tools for Creating Video Content

video cameraLast time, I told you why you should produce video content. As I promised, I will now show you how to create amazing video content for your business blog.

In this article, I’ll give you the best tools to use for creating video content.

Camera

There once was a time when good quality cameras cost tens of thousands of dollars. Now, you can get cameras that are better quality than those old, expensive cameras and cost less than $500.

Here’s the camera I use for my clients. (amazon affiliate link)

Microphones

Don’t trust your camera’s built in microphone. It’s horrible quality. Be sure to get an external microphone. If your viewers can’t hear your videos clearly, your video content won’t be effective.

Look for lavalier microphones. These attach to people’s clothes and are great for interviews.

Here’s a great microphone for getting started.

Lighting

You don’t need a complicated lighting setup, but you do need basic lights so people can see what’s on camera.

For my clients, I bought a simple, 2-light kit. This kit comes with Soft Boxes which softens the light, much better for filming people.

Here’s the lighting kit I purchased.

Editing Software

Macs come with amazing, free editing software: iMovie. If you’re looking for something a bit more advanced, you can also get Final Cut Pro.

I’ve never done any video editing on a PC, but many people love Adobe Premiere and Premiere Elements. Check these out if you have a PC.

Uploading, Sharing, and Embedding

YouTube is the best for uploading and sharing your finished videos.

First off, it is one of the most used websites. More potential customers will find you if you upload your videos to YouTube than any other video website.

Secondly, you can easily embed your YouTube videos into websites and blog posts. Here’s an image showing how to embed the YouTube video into your WordPress blog.

  1. I can do some pretty amazing things with iMovie, thinking I should take a crack at Final Cut Pro. It's definitely something that would be great to master.
